Overview

Local Organics is a Member based business that sources Local Organic produce as directly from farmers as possible.

Step 1 Everyone orders in advance for their local organic fruit and veggie boxes (by email or during your last collection)

Step 2 We work with Local Farmers and distributors to source great food

Step 3 You collect your box on Thurs morning from Brunswick East

Step 4 If you want more, we want you! Become involved by volunteering and receive a discount (See below for details)

The benefits are 7 fold. Local Organic things are fresh and tasty! We all get connected through food to, farmers, our community and the land that supports us. Reduced waste and spoilage. No nasty chemicals in your food and the environment Affordable way to get organic produce. Accessible to us city folk. Having this group makes it worthwhile for Rod and other farmers to deal directly with us.

How does ordering work?

Order with us by email or in person when you collect your veggie box. Orders must be iin or changed by Wed morning at 10am. In your email clearly state your member number the box size and cost and the type of dairy and/or bread you would like.

How does pick up work?

Pick up is in Brunswick East every Thursday between 3:30pm and 9pm. It is possible to pick up outside these times by appointment only (email organicveggieboxes@gmail or phone 80605221).

What is the swap box?

If you come and pick up your box on Saturday you can use the "Swap box", it is a half a box of veggies that you can use to swap veggies/fruit that you don't eat for something you do.

How does delivery work?

If you wish to have your box delivered you can organise that with us by emailing us your address and we will let you know the cost. Delivery will cost $6 -$10 depending your suburb. Delivery is made by bicycle!. We are currently expanding our delivery system and may not yet deliver to your suburb.

If we don't yet cover your suburb there are still a few options. Some members arrange with their local friends to all order veggies and carpool their box collection. Public transport is available, we are very close to the 96 tram and the bus which runs along Brunswick Rd and Albion St. Many of our members ride bike with panniers, racks or baskets that help then to get their veggies home.

Volunteering or getting more involved.

One of the best and easiest ways to be involved is feedback to us about whats working, whats not working and any new ideas you have. We also encourage people to come and help us box up on a Saturday morning, or help out in the business in some other way during the week. There is plenty to do. Roughly 3 hours will get you a 40% discount. If you like to be involved send us an email saying what your interested in doing, Thursday mornings, business development, community development etc :)

What do I need to remember each Thursday when I come to collect my Organic veggies and dairy? Each Thursday that you come to pick up organic veggies please:

Each Thursday that you come to pick up organic veggies please:
1) Think about your households organic food needs for the future, what, when and how much?
2) Calculate and bring money to cover your next box, dairy and bread order.
3) Also remember to return your empty box each time you collect veggies.

Cancellation and Late Fees

Communication is the key! We understand things come up, but please consider paying for the convenience of having us swap late orders, call you when you are late and ultimately try to re-sell unwanted boxes. The reason we can provide affordable organic boxes is because of our pre-order system reduces costs associated with administration and wasted veggies.

To help with every one's memory and our costs of time, the phone calls, re-storing and the re-scheduling of pick ups we are introducing small fees for members who either cancel their box after Wed 10am or do not collect within the allotted time slot and did not notify us by email before Thursday to reschedule pick up.

- For a box canceled after the 10 am Wed cut off, we will try our best to move it on to someone else for a $5 fee. If we cant sell it on, the cost of the box will be non refundable....If you're ever stuck paying for an unwanted box, maybe it will be a good time to give a neighbor, family or friend a present.
- A late fee of $2 if picked up Thursday after hours (don't wait for us to call you, call us first and we'll leave it out for you)
- A late fee of $5 if picked up Friday

In saying all this however we are all human and understand life is sometimes un-predictable so we will remain flexible and understanding, communication is the key!
