Since late 2010 the Transition Town Kew Food Co-op has been up and running from the Kew Neighbourhood Learning Centre (KNLC) in Derby St, Kew. Members are able to order and/or purchase boxes of fresh, mixed and organic vegetables on a weekly or fortnightly basis every Thursday evening from 5:15 pm to 6:15 pm.  The vegies come from Craig and Shelley from Green Gully Organics of Nangana, so not only are the vegies organic but they're local as well with the money that members pay going direct to the grower.

The group is currently seeking new members, so if you are interested in joining simply follow the instructions via this link.

After sometime in the pipeline, Transition Kew Food Coop is soon to kick off.  The group, started by Transition Town Boroondara, will start by facilitating a vegie box scheme or subscription where weekly boxes of local, fresh and organic vegetables will be delivered direct from a farm in Macclesfield to a central location in Kew.  Once the vegie box scheme is up and running, there are plans to source fruit and dry goods for the group as well.

After being in the works for sometime, the team at Transition Town Boroondara

Assorted Vegies

have finally kicked off the process of starting it's very first food co-op.  As a few of the group live in Kew, we felt that this was the best place to locate our base and from where to start recruiting our members.

In keeping within the theme of this website, we are also hoping to create Community Supported Agriculture style arrangements with farmers, such that this will not be a typical food co-op.  With our first meeting last Wednesday and talks with farmers well and truly underway, we are very excited that the endeavour is starting to take shape.
